A.J. Lytton enters transfer portal for second time

Former Penn State CB A.J. Lytton is in the transfer portal for a second time.

The transfer portal continued to be active on Tuesday for Penn State’s football program. A.J. Lytton, perhaps as expected, entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal database to officially start evaluating his potential options for his next football home. Lions 247 was among the first to report the transfer portal development.

Lytton’s entrance into the transfer portal is not surprising. It was previously reported Lytton was one of seven players not appearing on Penn State’s updated roster for the spring. With Lytton’s omission came the expectation he would be on the move via the transfer portal.

Lytton was used primarily as a reserve cornerback in a deep and talented secondary, and he had a role on special teams as well. Lytton spent just the one season in Happy Valley with the Penn State program after transferring from Florida State last offseason. With starting assignments in the secondary appearing to be somewhat locked in even after some roster turnover, Lytton’s best opportunity to potentially start may now come with another program.

Where Lytton goes next remains to be seen, although Maryland could be a possible close-to-home option that would keep him in the Big Ten East. Lytton is a Maryland native.
