A.J. Green is now in the veteran seat as Tee Higgins joins the Bengals.

Tee Higgins might model his game after and look up to new teammate A.J. Green.

But the star Cincinnati Bengals wideout is just happy to be Higgins’ version of Chad Johnson.

In a new interview with Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, Green looked back on how excited he was to play with Chad when he came into the league:

“We were just out there winging it half the time. I was so looking forward to play with Chad when I first got here. ‘Oh my God, I’m going to play with Chad and it’s going to be unbelievable.’ I’ve got to talk to Tee a couple of times. Great guy. Unbelievable talent. He’s very glad he can come in and learn and I think he’s going to help us out a lot because he can make plays down the field like no other.”

Now — for at least one season — Green gets to play that veteran mentor role for Higgins as both look to help along rookie passer Joe Burrow. Green’s contract situation hangs in the background of any wideout discussion, but he’ll at least play under the tag if no extension happens before the mid-July deadline.

Higgins, by the way, has Chad Johnson’s blessing to wear No. 85. Johnson has already recruited Higgins, Green and other Bengals receivers for offseason workouts.
