A.J. Green updates his injury status after visiting foot specialist

The Bengals WR spoke after a visit to a foot specialist.

It doesn’t sound like Cincinnati Bengals wideout A.J. Green will suit up for the final two games of the 2019 season after visiting a foot specialist Monday.

Coming out of that meeting, Green said he isn’t 100 percent yet but should have a normal offseason training regimen.

“I feel good just getting confirmation from him. Knowing there’s no effect on my future,” Green said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I never thought it would be that bad that I could never play at a high level. Just hearing him saying it made me feel a lot better.”

Green went on to say the biggest task in front of him is getting range of motion back. On the contract front, he says he never felt pressured to get back on the field.

With the door seemingly finally shut on this season, the attention fully shifts to the future. Green is 32 and has had extensive injury issues over the past few years as he heads to free agency this offseason. Whether his offseason training gets back to full speed or not will play a big role in whether the Bengals — or another team — feel comfortable giving him a long-term commitment.
