The Cincinnati Bengals surprised onlookers during the team’s Week 5 game against the Baltimore Ravens by revealing star wideout A.J. Green was doubtful to return with a hamstring injury.

Cincinnati made the announcement in the third quarter to little fanfare, as Green hadn’t visible left the field with the help of trainers or anything of the sort.

Green had been a non-factor in Sunday’s game, with his lone target going for an interception. It’s unclear when he suffered the injury but the “doubtful” tag says it all when it comes to severity.

The franchise-tagged wideout suffered what was described as a minor hamstring injury this summer while attempting to make his comeback and missed most of camp. He’d been visibly slower over the first four games of the season, so there’s potentially a link here. We’ll have more as the team makes information public.
