A.J. Brown tipped his cap to Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez in best way possible

This is high praise coming from an All-Pro wide receiver

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A. J. Brown had nothing but praise for New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez.

Gonzalez and Brown were matched up on Tuesday at a joint practice between the two teams, and Brown feasted on the Patriots’ defensive backs throughout the afternoon.

He had 10 catches on 11 targets during team drills. Brown’s only missed catch was a forced incompletion by Gonzalez in 7-on-7s as noted by the Boston Herald’s Zack Cox.

This could be a preview of what Patriots fans could see on Thursday, as Gonzalez and Brown could go head-to-head once again. Brown recorded seven catches for 79 yards when the two teams met in the 2023 season opener.

Brown was quick to give Gonzalez praise, following the practice.

“He’s a great player, man. I had picked him coming out like two years ago as the best DB in the draft,” said Brown. “He’s a great player, he’s a great worker. He gave me good work today.”

Brown is one of the top receivers in the NFL. Gonzalez is still trying to work his way back from the injury he suffered last season. The second-year corner should be a consistent player for the Patriots throughout the regular season.

Nevertheless, Tuesday’s practice against Brown might have been a reminder of how much work he still needs to do.
