A.J. Brown reveals Tom Brady’s advice after Titans-Patriots joint practices in 2019

A.J. Brown says the advice Tom Brady gave him was some of the best he has received.

Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown says some of the best advice he has received since being in the league came from Former New England Patriots and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Tom Brady.

After the Titans and Patriots held joint practices in 2019, the future Hall of Fame signal-caller told Brown he should work on his weaknesses in order to erase them, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.

“He told me: Work on the things you know you need improvement on, so you won’t have no weakness,” Brown recalled. “Everybody works hard, but everybody knows what their weakness is. Work on your weakness so you have no weakness.”

Of course, Brown went on to have a sensational rookie campaign that saw him total 52 catches for 1,051 yards and nine total touchdowns (eight receiving).

Brown really took off in the second half of last season after quarterback Ryan Tannehill was named the starter. In fact, he compiled 100 yards or more in four of the last six regular season games and only two receivers in the NFL posted a better overall Pro Football Focus grade than he did.

He finished third in the Offensive Rookie of the Year voting, which was no doubt a snub. After all, no offensive rookie had as much of an impact on their team as Brown did, and neither of the two rookies who finished ahead of him — Kyler Murray and Josh Jacobs — helped get their team to the playoffs.

As a result of his impressive rookie campaign, Brown figures to get more attention from opposing defenses, but he says that won’t stop him from doing his job.

“Julio Jones, Michael Thomas – everybody knows they’re coming, but you still have to go out and play,” Brown said of some of the NFL’s best receivers. “That’s my approach. Regardless of the film, whatever I did last year, nobody cares about that. You still have to come out and play every week, and that is what I learned last year, week in and week out.”

With the plethora of weapons the Titans have in the passing attack, combined with a dominant running game that forces opposing defenses to stack the box, Tennessee’s opponents won’t exactly have an easy time keying in on Brown.
