Aidan Hutchinson announces return to Michigan for senior year

The Michigan football legacy isn’t ready to call it a career in Ann Arbor just yet.

Pepper may be gone, but salt is coming back.

After four years in the program, Michigan football defensive end Kwity Paye is understandably moving on with his career, heading to the NFL draft despite having another year of eligibility. His edge compatriot Aidan Hutchinson could have easily followed suit, as he’s been mocked in the early rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft. However, that’s not what he intends.

Hutchinson announced on Twitter on Monday evening that he’s staying at Michigan for another year, thus planning to exhaust his intercollegiate eligibility.

It’s no surprise, given how much the Wolverines mean to him as a legacy. That’s not even to mention that he sustained a season-ending injury in the third game of the 2020 season, which would have prematurely saw his time in Ann Arbor come to an untimely close if he moved on.

With the NCAA free year, Hutchinson actually has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
