The LSU bond between Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Kanas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire hasn’t gone anywhere.

While Edwards-Helaire preps for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl showdown with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the subject of Burrow came up during an interview with the media.

On the subject of Burrow’s injury, Edwards-Helaire noted the following, according to The Advocate‘s Jeff Nowak: “He’s one of my best friends. So to see him go down the way he did, I mean, it hurt me. It’s as simple as that.”

The star running back said he and Burrow have been on their regular schedule.

“Once I was able to get into contact with him it’s been pretty much the same schedule of me talking to him the whole year like I’ve always been,” Edwards-Helaire said.

The first-round back led the Chiefs in rushing this year as a breakout player, gaining 803 yards and four touchdowns on a 4.4 average over 13 games.

While Burrow and his former running back didn’t end up on the same team, the Bengals quarterback has said he wants a LSU reunion with star wideout Ja’Marr Chase.

On an interesting Chiefs-related front, Bengals wideout A.J. Green has been projected to sign with Kansas City in free agency.
