On Saturday, the Aggies will play Appalachian State for the first time in program history. The Mountaineer’s athletic communications team released this game announcement back in February 2018 in which the scheduling of Texas A&M was part of a concerted effort to “[schedule] some of the nation’s most recognizable programs” and “play at least one game against a Power Five team [over] the next seven seasons.”
“We’re excited to add another nationally recognized program like Texas A&M to our future football schedule,” director of athletics Doug Gillin said. “The trip to Texas should be a great experience for our team and fan base.”
As the Mountaineers were narrowly defeated by North Carolina in Week 1 – scoring 40 points in the fourth quarter alone – the Aggies defense will be a much different monster come Saturday.
Saturday’s kickoff against Appalachian State is set for 2:30PM CT at Kyle Field.
