Texas A&M (21-8, 13-3 SEC) is on the cusp of making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2017-2018 season, and first under Head coach Buzz Williams. After dropping only their 3rd SEC game on the road against Mississippi State on Saturday night, the Aggies are still in a good postion to earn at least a six-seed or possibly better in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, but according to ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi, the seeding might be on the lower end of the spectrum.
In his newest bracket update, Lunardi has projected Texas A&M back to the 8-line, matched up with 9-seed Illinois. Dropping from their previously projected 6-seed in last week’s bracket, the Aggies remain ranked inside the top 20 in the NET (27th) and KenPom (24th), and with one more Quad 1 opportunity left in the regular season against the visiting Alabama Crimson Tide on March 4th, moving back up to the 6-line isn’t out of the question.
First, taking care of business against the struggling Ole Miss Rebels (11-18, 3-13 SEC) is a must in order to not only stay in the good graces of Lunardi, and the selection committee, but also keep the Aggies on track for a chance at an SEC Regular season Title.
