Aggies matchup with Alabama the most watched college football game of Week 6

The narrative leading up to the Aggies week 6 matchup with the Crimson Tide of Alabama was robust. It started at Kyle Field in October of 2021, when the Aggies upset the No. 1 Tide 41-38 on a last second Seth Small field goal. Then it amped up in May when Nick Saban made accusations about Texas A&M’s use of NIL in recruiting, and Jimbo Fisher fired back in an explosive press conference.

CBS took note of all this of course, and chose to use their double header slot for the 2022 season on the day of this matchup, and put Aggies vs. Tide in primetime.

The result? According to Stewart Mandel, the game drew 7.1 million viewers, making it by far the most watched game of the week, with nearly 3 million more than the second most watched game.
