Texas A&M has made the final list for one of the more underrated prospects in the 2023 recruiting class, offensive lineman Naquil Betrand. In the updated rankings in accordance with 247Sports, Betrand is ranked as the 78th offensive tackle prospect in the country, and the 16th ranked player in Maryland. Betrand’s final list of schools includes Georgia, Texas A&M, Syracuse, Auburn, Kentucky, and Penn State. Betrand announced via social media that his commitment date is scheduled for Saturday, July 30th.
Entering his senior season at Saint Francis Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, Betrand played his previous seasons at Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as a standout at the right tackle spot. Standing at 6-7, 310lbs, Betrand has a wide base while displaying impressive footwork and quickness in run blocking, and shows his natural athleticism while consistently getting to the second level of the defense. In pass protection, he shows great balance, is quick out of his stance, and displays adequate hand strength and positioning while utilizing his length against smaller pass rushers.
As a former commit to Colorado, Betrand reopened his recruitment after de-committing on July 4th, and previously unofficially visited Texas A&M on April 7th, Kentucky on June 17th, and Auburn on June 24th, with an upcoming official visit to College Station, Texas coming soon. The Aggies are now in the thick of things regarding Naquil Betrand’s football future and have the opportunity to seal the deal with two solid weeks remaining before his announcement.
