If it could go wrong for A&M on Saturday in Starkville against Mississippi State, it did.
Fumbles, blocked field goals, pick sixes, injuries, dropped passes, missed tackles, and sacks plagued the No 17 Aggies against Quarterback Will Rodgers and the Bulldogs.
Who knows how this season will end up, but on this day there was no doubt who the better team was.
Every time the Aggies would muster any sort of momentum, Mississippi State would make a huge play to steal it away.
The Aggies got a big stop on defense, and got a good punt return from Moose Muhammad, and the Bulldogs force a Devon Achane fumble at the 6 yard line. Max Johnson moves the team down the field in the last two minutes of the second half, and with under 20 seconds left, he gets sacked in the red zone and fumbles the ball away.
They generate some offense in the third quarter, and Mississippi State blocks their field goal attempt and return it for a touch down. Haynes King replaces an injured Johnson and scores a 4-yard rushing touchdown, and Rogers completes a 75-yard touchdown pass.
It happened over and over, and the result, was a 42-24 blowout loss at the hands of Mike Leach’s Bulldogs,
