David Hicks Jr spoke earlier this year about making it to state in his field events and even threw one of the nation’s most extended discus distances. However, after accomplishing his goal of making it to the UIL State Track and Field Champions, his focus shifted to medaling while there.
The Paetow High School Male Athlete of the Year showed great at the track meet. Even though he fell a few feet short of taking the gold, he still finished in third in the 6A division with a throw of 182′-6″. Below Hicks talks about his thoughts on making it to the state championship and what he expects heading to Bryan/ College Station soon.
