The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been eliminated from playoff contention quite yet, but their collective fate is firmly out of their hands at this point. Nevertheless, they enter their Week 17 game with the Washington Redskins as surprising 12.5 point road favorites.
This line makes it clear that the team from the nation’s capital will not be putting their best foot forward, but will Dallas? In what will most likely be the last game for head coach Jason Garrett, the motivation to play hard is just one look of the scoreboard away from falling apart.
If the Philadelphia Eagles handle their business against a bad New York Giants team, then it’s hard to imagine a scenario where the Cowboys pour it on to win by nearly two touchdowns.
Furthermore, Dallas will likely be without cornerback Byron Jones and left tackle Tyron Smith as they deal with ankle and back injuries respectively. Quarterback Dak Prescott got limited work in Friday, but has barely practiced for two straight weeks.
It’s probably best to avoid betting on this game altogether, but for the truly degenerate gamblers out there…
The Verdict: The Cowboys sleepwalk through the season finale and fail to cover the -12.5 point spread while the game goes UNDER (46.5)
On the year: 8-7 ATS, 9-6 over/under.
