After win over FSU, Joe Lunardi reveals what UNC still has to do

ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi reveals what the UNC basketball program has to do after Monday’s win to get into the NCAA Tournament.

Time is running out for the North Carolina Tar Heels. While Monday was a win they needed to have against Florida State, it wasn’t a Quad 1 win.

This was more of a game that would do more damage than anything, and it’s good that UNC avoided that. With one game left, a home date against Duke on Saturday, the Tar Heels have at least one more chance to earn a Quad 1 win for their resume. But how much more do they have to do to feel safe?

During halftime of Monday’s win, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi was on the show and revealed that not only did UNC have to win Monday but beat Duke on Saturday AND get another win in the ACC Tournament. Yep, at least two more wins after tonight.

Lunardi did say that if UNC lost to Duke, they would need at least two in the ACC Tournament and maybe three.

This comes a few weeks after Lunardi said that UNC needed to go 4-1 in the final five games to feel safe going into the ACC Tournament. The Tar Heels are 3-1 in that stretch with one game to go.

Going into this game, Lunardi had UNC moving up from the win over Virginia but it was just one spot to No. 70. He still had it behind Arizona State as well as both West Virginia and Oklahoma State, who were among the last four in.

It’s clear UNC has to work to do and the best way to solve this is to beat Duke on Saturday.
