After season opening win, Rutgers football is projected to make a bowl game

Rutgers football was just projected by Brett McMurphy to make a bowl game.

After beating a former Big East rival to start the season, at least one bowl projection has Rutgers football closing out the season against another Big East nemesis.

Fresh off beating Boston College on Saturday, there is now a fresh set of expectations for Rutgers football. A bowl game, once thought a bit of a reach for this rebuilding group, is suddenly now in the mix for Rutgers after their 1-0 start.

Brett McMurphy of the Action Network has Rutgers playing Cincinnati in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl. The game is hosted by Fenway Park (Boston, MA) and this season would be the bowl’s debut.

For a little perspective remember that last season, Cincinnati was in the College Football Playoff.

Rutgers made a bowl game last season, replacing Texas A&M in the Gator Bowl on short notice. The last time that the Scarlet Knights outright were bowl eligible was in 2014 when they beat North Carolina in the Quick Lane Bowl.
