AFC playoff picture: Steelers sit on top, AFC North stacked

The Steelers currently hold the top spot in the AFC playoff picture.

With seven weeks in the books, the AFC playoff picture is starting to take shape. The NFL has adjusted the playoff format for 2020 and each conference gets an extra playoff team. This means that No. 1 seed is the only one that will earn a bye week, making it even more valuable.

Here’s how the playoffs would look if they started this week.

1-Pittsburgh Steelers 6-0

2-Kansas City Chiefs 6-1

3-Tennessee Titans 5-1

4-Buffalo Bills 5-2

5-Baltimore Ravens 5-1

6-Cleveland Browns 5-2

7-Indianapolis Colts 4-2

A few notes from these playoff rankings:

Thanks to the team’s best start since 1978, the Steelers are currently the No. 1 overall seed and the last undefeated team in the NFL. This could all change as the Steelers square off with the Ravens this week but for now, Pittsburgh is one top.

The other interesting note of this is the representation by the AFC North. If the playoffs started today, three of the seven playoff spots could be occupied by teams from the AFC North.
