AFC Championship: Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs Prediction, Game Preview

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs prediction, NFL Playoff AFC Championship game preview.

Why Kansas City Will Win The AFC Championship

This is a quick strike Buffalo offense with the firepower and weapons to hang punch for punch with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City attack, but it won’t be able to get away with getting destroyed in the time of possession battle again.

The Chiefs might have only put up 26 points in the first game against the Bills, but they held on to the ball for close to 38 minutes and kept Josh Allen and company off off the field.

That was hardly an aberration.

The Ravens only scored three points last week, but they had the offense on the field for close to 36 minutes. The Colts had the ball for over 34 minutes in their Wild Card loss.

The Dolphins owned the clock for well over five minutes more than the Bills in the regular season finale, the Patriots almost doubled up the stat by keeping the ball for close to 40 minutes, and on and on and …

Buffalo won all of those games. However, New England, Miami, Indianapolis and Baltimore aren’t Kansas City in terms of talent and versatility.

If Patrick Mahomes is fine, then no big whoop. The offense goes on like normal and the Chiefs are the Chiefs. But if he’s less than 100%, or if Chad Henne gets the call, owning the clock could be the way this works.

The Kansas City defense isn’t anything special, but grind away on offense, rely on being at home – with whatever advantages that holds – and simply hold serve once in a while.

Limit the Buffalo possessions and the times Josh Allen gets his shot to be Josh Allen, but keep being creative and fearless.

No, this might not be as easy offensively as it was throughout last year for the Chiefs, but they keep on winning. No one is better this year at knowing how to pull out close games.
