AEW Dynamite results: Punk, Moxley meet to unify world title

Get AEW Dynamite results for the August 24, 2022 show from Cleveland, featuring CM Punk vs. Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship.

It’s usually hyperbole when wrestling shows, which run 52 weeks a year, say that they have the biggest show ever coming up. Except for AEW Dynamite, that may actually be the case this week in Cleveland.

Let’s start with the big one: When CM Punk returned from injury, everyone knew it was just a matter of time before he and Jon Moxley met to unify the AEW World Championship. The prevailing thought was that it would happen at All Out, which by the way, is just around the corner on Sept. 4.

But instead, that match is taking place on tonight’s episode of Dynamite. It’s one of the bigger pro wrestling matches on free TV in some time, and it should end with an undisputed world champ … unless there are hijinks in store.

That might not even be the best pure wrestling match on the card. The AEW World Trios Championship tournament continues this week with a match that almost can’t help but be a barnburner, as Death Triangle takes on Will Ospreay and Aussie Open. And the man who many are tabbing as the best to lace them up right now, FTR’s Dax Harwood, will go one on one with Jay Lethal.

Plus there should be some fun non-wrestling segments to boot. Daniel Garcia seemed conflicted about whether he wants to be a wrestler or sports entertainer after facing Bryan Danielson again, and we’ll hear what’s on the mind of Ricky Starks after he’s been away from Dynamite for a few weeks.

This all sounds pretty good, right? Like a show you’d want to watch? We recommend you tune in to TBS if at all possible, because the feeling is that AEW is going to pull out all the stops. But as always, if you can’t watch, be sure to bookmark this page and check back regularly as we update it with the latest AEW Dynamite results shortly after they happen.
