AEW Dynamite preview: Pillars talk, Collision location announcement

Double or Nothing week in Las Vegas kicks off with three title matches on AEW Dynamite, plus an intriguing announcement.

You lucky folks in the Las Vegas area are in for a full week of AEW wrestling, and it begins tonight with AEW Dynamite from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. It’s the final episode ahead of Double or Nothing, conveniently also in Sin City this weekend.

The bout topping that card will see MJF defend his AEW World Championship against the other three so-called Pillars of the company — Darby Allin, “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry and Sammy Guevara — so it’s only right for all four men to have their final say. Surely no punches will be exchanged or anything like that, right? No, surely not.

Tony Khan will also announce the location for the debut episode of AEW: Collision next month. This has been heavily rumored to be the United Center in Chicago, but that was assuming CM Punk would be back in the fold for the premiere. Since that still feels a bit up in the air at the moment, the announcement itself could provide some clarity.

What’s that you say? Are there wrestling matches on this wrestling program? My peeps, yes. We’re talking three championship matches, in singles (Orange Cassidy vs. Kyle Fletcher), tag team (Lucha Bros. vs. Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta) and trios (House of Black vs. AR Fox, Blake Christian and Metalik) varieties. Plus Taya Valkyrie takes on Lady Frost.

All that, plus there will be a contract signing between Adam Cole and Chris Jericho that’s all but guaranteed to be contentious. And we’ll hear from AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR too.

So yes, it’s the go-home edition of AEW Dynamite before Double or Nothing, but you could argue that AEW is already home itself since it’s setting up shop on the Strip for the week.
