What’s that sound you hear? Why, that’s the sound of the Forbidden Door, of course. It’s continuing to swing wider open as AEW and NJPW gear up for the pay-per-view of the same name this weekend in Chicago, and tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite from Milwaukee should clear up some of the remaining questions surrounding the card.
For starters, there’s the matter of who IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White might be wrestling on Sunday. Both Hangman Adam Page, who called out White directly, and Adam Cole, who tried to use the bonds between Bullet Club and the Undisputed Elite to make his case, tried to talk their way into title shots. The Catalyst shot them both down, but Tony Khan confirmed today that White will face someone at Forbidden Door, and we’ll find out who tonight.
There’s also a spot left in the four-way match to crown the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion. Two AEW wrestlers and one from NJPW have already earned their way in, but Penta Oscuro and Malakai Black will go head to head to round out that bout.
Injuries have been a concern for Bryan Danielson, who one figures would otherwise be chomping at the bit to put himself against some of New Japan’s best. Zack Sabre Jr. has called him out, and AEW has promoted an appearance by the American Dragon tonight to address his status for Forbidden Door and Blood and Guts.
One thing we already know is that Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi will do battle at Forbidden Door for the Interim AEW World Championship. On Dynamite, however, they’ll have to tag up to battle Chris Jericho and Lance Archer.
