If it’s September in the greater Chicago area, it must be time for AEW All Out.
AEW’s end of summer/beginning of fall pay-per-view has called Hoffman Estates its home every year except the pandemic year of 2020, and the idea seems to be to go bigger for 2022. A total of 11 matches are on this year’s card, plus four more on the Zero Hour pre-show.
Biggest of all is a match that wasn’t even set until earlier this week, as CM Punk attempts to shake off his quick defeat at the hands of AEW World Champion Jon Moxley less than two weeks back. He seems to have been revitalized thanks to a pep talk from his good friend Ace Steel, and drawing energy from the Chicago crowds. But will that make a difference against a killer like Mox?
The AEW World Trios Championship will also be awarded for the first time, and there’s plenty of intrigue around the matchup for the final. Hangman Adam Page stuck by his friends in the Dark Order, which makes sense as he values loyalty. But opposing them will be his former running buddies in The Elite, the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, and it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out.
Bryan Danielson and Chris Jericho will also renew acquaintances as Jericho attempts to prove he’s still got it as a pro wrestler even as he stumps for sports entertainment. He’s been pretty successful at rewinding the clock to his Lionheart days so far, but he’s going to need every bit of his old persona if he hopes to defeat the American Dragon.
This is going to be a long but hopefully excellent All Out, and one you won’t want to miss. But it’s also a holiday weekend, we realize, so if you need to stay abreast of what’s going on, bookmark this page and check back throughout the night as we update it with the latest AEW All Out results.
