Adrien Broner sentenced to jail for violating probation

A Cleveland judge ordered Adrien Broner to spend seven days in jail for violating his probation for a 2018 conviction.

Adrien Broner just can’t get it right.

The former titleholder was ordered by a judge in Cleveland to spend seven days in jail for violating his probation for a 2018 incident in which he was alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman at a nightclub. He was led to jail on the spot.

Broner, from Cincinnati, was arrested in March in Miami on drunken-driving charges, which violated the terms of his probation.

The judge, Sherrie Miday, said Wednesday she hoped Broner’s time behind bars would be a “wake-up call.”

Broner was initially charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor after a 35-year-old old accused him of the assault in a Cleveland nightclub during the 2018 NBA Finals. However, he pleaded guilty to assault and unlawful restraint, both misdemeanors.

Broner told Miday during the hearing that he was struggling. He said his wife left him and he was in need of counseling, according to Cleveland.com.

Broner’s victim also sued him. A judge in December ordered him to pay her $830,000.
