As owners of the second pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the Washington Redskins were always going to be a point of speculation when it comes to running backs.
Said speculation has centered on whether the Redskins decide to draft a quarterback like Tua Tagovailoa, giving Dwayne Haskins some premature competition.
Count running back Adrian Peterson among those not thrilled with the idea.
As seen in the tweet below, Peterson threw his support behind the sophomore quarterback after all the speculation went viral.
While Peterson’s notes and interviews alone won’t be enough to quiet the whispers nationally ahead of the draft, it’s a good sign of how most of the locker room probably feels about the situation. Peterson, after all, is a big culture guy the team keeps bringing back.
Some noise is better than nothing for the Redskins when it comes to this thanks to the possibility of a trade down. But for Peterson and players like him, the quarterback situation isn’t even in question.
