Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson isn’t a stranger to winning awards.
This time? Peterson’s up for a special honor due to much more than his play on the field too. Tuesday, Peterson was announced as a finalist for the NFL’s Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.
Interim head coach Bill Callahan addressed the development with the media, according to Matthew Paras of the Washington Times:
“There are so many things that impress me about Adrian. I’m glad that he’s been nominated and I certainly hope that he wins the award because he’s certainly deserving.”
If Peterson wins when the prize gets announced on Feb. 1, he’ll win a trophy and $25,000 to donate to the charity of his choice.
Peterson is one of seven finalists and if he wins, he’d follow in the footsteps of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
