Aden Holloway expected to make instant impact at Auburn

CBS Sports’ Cameron Salerno says that Holloway could be a difference maker in Auburn’s lineup.

Auburn basketball ended last season by bowing out of the second round of the NCAA Tournament by dropping an 81-64 decision to Houston at Legacy Arena in Birmingham.

The Tigers hope to advance to the Sweet 16 and beyond this season and will rely on several veterans such as [autotag]Johni Broome[/autotag], [autotag]Jaylin Williams[/autotag], and [autotag]Dylan Cardwell[/autotag] to get them there.

[autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] will also have an ambush of fresh talent to rely on, including freshman guard [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag].

Holloway was Auburn’s lone signee from the 2023 cycle and is a huge one. The guard from Napa, California was the No. 16 overall player according to 247Sports and was the No. 3 guard for the class.

It is no secret that Holloway will be relied upon heavily this season, and is expected to become one of college basketball’s most impactful freshman according to CBS Sports.

Cameron Salerno of CBS Sports has dropped his list of 20 freshmen who can make the biggest immediate impact in the 2023-24 season. Holloway checks in at No. 7.

Salerno believes that Holloway can make an immediate impact on Auburn’s roster.

Auburn coach Bruce Pearl has experience working with talented point guards such as Jared Harper, Sharife Cooper and Javon McCormick and Holloway appears to be next in line. Holloway is one of the best overall shooters in his class and he showed an ability to score in multiple ways during his high school and AAU career. Auburn is projected to finish in the middle of the SEC this season and if Holloway is as good as he projects to be, the Tigers could rise in the standings come late in the season.

USC‘s Isaiah Collier tops this year’s list, with Bronny James also making the cut. The Tigers will face the Trojans on Sunday, Dec. 17 at Neville Arena. Other members of the list that Auburn will compete with this season include Justin Edwards, DJ Wagner, and Aaron Bradshaw of Kentucky, Ja’Kobe Walter of Baylor, and Indiana’s Mackenzie Mgbako.
