NBA commissioner Adam Silver reportedly told the Board of Governors on Tuesday that he is looking to make a decision on resuming the season in 2-4 weeks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The prevailing thought following the virtual conference call was there is reason to believe the season can be salvageable in a safe and healthy way. The NBPA informed agents on Tuesday that both the players and league office still want to finish the season.

The NBA and the players started discussing parameters on how the season would look if play were to resume, although exact details have yet to emerge. Players like Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Jayson Tatum and Kyle Lowry were among those on the call.

The NBA is looking at two host sites to resume the season, the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando and Las Vegas. Before settling on a city to host gameplay, the league wants a better understanding of how the coronavirus is spreading and breakthroughs on testing players.

Last week, the Orlando Magic received approval from local health officials and the NBA to test asymptomatic players for the coronavirus. Teams like the Lakers and Clippers in Los Angeles are also expected to receive clearance to do testing and other cities could soon follow suit.

Silver has stated in the past that he did not want to put a hard timeframe on a potential return but his 2-4 week timetable could be just that as teams and players grow restless waiting on a decision.
