Action Network projects Auburn to face Florida State in bowl season

Action Network’s Brett McMurphy expects Florida State to square off with Auburn after missing the College Football Playoff yet again.

Preseason bowl projections are beginning to surface, and Action Network is giving Auburn its best forecast to this point in the offseason.

Brett McMurphy of Action Network has revealed his picks for the College Football Playoff and bowl game participants for the upcoming season. In his early predictions, McMurphy has Auburn taking the SEC’s slot in the Gator Bowl at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday, Jan. 2. Their opponent? The Florida State Seminoles.

Should Auburn earn a Gator Bowl bid, they will compete in the only bowl game of the day, and one of the final bowl games before the College Football Playoff semi-finals take place on Jan. 9.

Auburn owns a 13-5 record over the Seminoles. If McMurphy’s prediction comes true and the Tigers meet the Seminoles in the Gator Bowl, it will be a revenge game for Auburn after the Tigers dropped the 2013 BCS National Championship Game to Florida State.

McMurphy forecasts four SEC teams: Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Ole Miss, to make the College Football Playoff with seven other teams from the conference earning bowl bids for the 2024 season.
