ACC releases football schedule model for next seven seasons

A new seven-year football schedule model for the Atlantic Coast Conference has been released on Monday.

There’s still a month left in the college football regular season but it’s never too early to look at the future schedules. Especially if you’re a fan of North Carolina who has suffered two devastating losses in back-to-back weeks to Virginia and Georgia Tech.

On Monday, the Atlantic Coast Conference released its schedule model for the next seven years in the conference. The model will NOT feature divisions like this season and feature 17 schools and will increase the number of annual conference matchups from 56 to 68. The top two teams based on conference winning percentage will compete in the ACC Football Championship Game per the release.

It will also have 17 teams playing each other at least twice over the next seven seasons – once at home and once on the road. With the additions of Stanford, Cal, and SMU, the 14 teams that ar e in the ACC now will play in California three times each in the next seven years but never in back-to-back seasons.
