The second-seeded Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets appeared to done multiple times Thursday night, but each time figured out a way to fight back and even things with Louisville, before ultimately defeating the Cardinals.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 6-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning when freshman catcher Kevin Parada hit a three-run blast to even the score.
Two innings later Louisville scratched across a run in the top of the tenth before Drew Compton’s RBI double again tied things up for Georgia Tech, setting the stage for a ridiculous 12th inning.
Louisville again took the lead at 8-7 and Georgia Tech was batting with two outs in the bottom of the 12th when Andrew Jenkins doubled to left-center to tie the game and ultimately win it after the ball rolled past the Louisville centerfielder.
The win moves Georgia Tech to the conference semi-finals where they will play the winner of Thursday night’s No. 3 NC State vs. No. 10 Pitt game.
