ACC baseball tournament game 14 recap: NC State advances to meet Duke in final

It’ll be an in-state battle between two Carolina teams for the 2021 ACC baseball championship.

No. 3 NC State is headed to the ACC baseball championship game on Sunday as they’ll face upstart Duke.  This comes after the Wolfpack easily handled second-seeded Georgia Tech on Saturday in ACC semi-final action, 8-1.

Wolfpack second baseman and son of Notre Dame head coach Link, J. T. Jarrett hit a bases-clearing double to give NC State a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

The Wolfpack wouldn’t look back all afternoon as they got help from catcher Luca Tresh, who homered in the fourth inning to bring the lead back to three at 4-1.

Centerfield Tyler McDonough would eventually end the scoring as his ninth-inning home run completed the scoring and made things 8-1 in NC State’s favor.

Sam Highfill (6.1 IP) and Evan Justice (1.2 IP) combined to allow just one Georgia Tech run in NC State’s winning effort.
