The American Baseball Coaches Association named Florida Head Baseball Coach Kevin O’Sullivan on Thursday as the full slate of 2023 coaching awards was revealed.
O’Sullivan may have won the national coaching honor with a College World Series win, but that naturally went to LSU‘s Jay Johnson. It is the third time that Sully has brought home this award and the first since his National Coach of the Year Award during the 2017 national title run.
Florida won a record 54 games this season as it finished in second place at the NCAA College World Series in Omaha. The Gators won a 16th SEC regular season title, the sixth under Sully. Seven players were named to All-SEC teams and four of them went on to be All-Americans.
Jac Caglianone’s 33 home runs led the offense in breaking the single-season team record in homers (145), and the pitching staff set new highs for strikeouts (725) and strikeouts per nine innings (10.6).
