Aaron Rodgers’ sideline suggestions to Jets coaches helped them score precisely 1 TD

Aaron Rodgers REALLY wants everyone to know he helped the Jets offense play terribly.

As he recovers from a torn Achilles, Aaron Rodgers isn’t of much use to the New York Jets when he can’t play football. But as New York slowly saves its season thanks to benchmark 20-14 wins over the Philadelphia Eagles, it looks like Rodgers is finding a way to contribute where he can.

According to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt, Rodgers wore a headset that was dialed in with the Jets’ offensive coaching staff Sunday. (Gee, I wonder who the source is.) He apparently offered suggestions about play calls that could work against Philadelphia’s defense. Rodgers’ advice was so valuable that the Jets had 244 yards of offense, went an atrocious 2-of-11 on third down and 1-of-4 in the red zone, and needed a late Jalen Hurts interception that gave the New York offense a first and goal just to score one whole touchdown.

(In the most sarcastic voice possible: Wow, look at all the help he gave Gang Green!

In all seriousness, there probably isn’t much Rodgers could do to elevate Zach Wilson. Even while the third-year quarterback has played better in Rodgers’ absence, he remains one of the NFL’s least effective signal callers. I’m just understandably hesitant to credit Rodgers for input that didn’t really change anything about the Jets’ mediocre offense. Even though, again, it seems that he’s the one who seemingly wants credit for it.

No one would have even noticed if we weren’t aware that Rodgers was handing out suggestions on the headset.
