It’s probably for the best that Aaron Rodgers did NOT say that winning NFL MVP in 2020 was the best thing that happened to him last year.
Instead, he said his engagement to actress Shailene Woodley was.
A reminder: Rodgers stunned the world when he thanked his fiancee in his MVP acceptance speech, amid reports he was dating Woodley. She then confirmed they had been engaged “for a while” (and she said she knows him as “the nerd who wants to host Jeopardy!“). There was also Rodgers shouting out Woodley’s The Mauritanian co-star Jodie Foster that led to some fun back-and-forth, but that’s besides the point in this case.
Rodgers was on a Zenith Watches Instagram Live on Thursday and, as transcribed by USA TODAY, here’s what he said:
Rodgers said proposing to actress Shailene Woodley was “the best thing that’s happened to me in the last year.”
“I’m recently engaged, so been enjoying that part of my life,” Rodgers said to Zenith Watches CEO Julien Tornare after being named a brand ambassador in February.
Now that Rodgers has love and soon marriage, could a baby in a baby carriage be next? According to Rodgers, fatherhood is certainly in his future: “The next great challenge will be being a father.”
“I’ll look forward to taking care of another life at some point,” Rodgers said. “I think it’s gonna be so fun. I’ve dreamt about what that will be like, I’m really excited about that chapter whenever that comes.”
However, Rodgers said parenthood is “maybe not in the immediate future.”
Dad Rodgers! That’s down the road, though. In any event, this is lovely!
