Aaron Rodgers realizes finishing career with Packers ‘may not be a reality’

The Packers shocked the football world when they traded up in the first round to draft quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick.

Green Bay still has Aaron Rodgers on its team and while Rodgers is 36 years old, this is a player who has made it public he wants to play for at least another four seasons and is still one of the better quarterbacks in the league.

Rodgers is coming to the realization that finishing his career with the Packers is unlikely and his career could take a late twist similar to Brett Favre’s.

“It was more the surprise of the pick based on my own feelings of wanting to play into my 40s and really the realization that it does change the controllables a little bit because as much as I feel confident in my abilities and what I can accomplish and what we can accomplish, there are some new factors that are out of my control,” Rodgers said via NFL.com. “So my sincere desire to start and finish with the same organization, just as it has with many other players over the years, may not be a reality at this point and as much as I understand the organization’s future outlook and wanting to make sure they’re thinking about the team now and down the line, and I respect that, at the same time I still believe in myself and I’ve shown that I can play into my 40s. I’m just not sure how that all works together at this point.”

Given how history has gone, the question now is how soon will Rodgers be the quarterback for the Vikings?
