Aaron Rodgers, Jets manhandle Patriots

Aaron Rodgers was on target and the Jets wrecked the Patriots

The Aaron Rodgers in green on Thursday at MetLife Stadium looked like the Aaron Rodgers from Green Bay. That enabled the New York Jets to end an eight-game home losing streak to the New England Patriots, who they made look green — as in sick — in a 24-3 victory.

The Jets came in having lost 13 of their last 14 prime-time games.

Rodgers was 27-of-35 for 281 yards. He was sharp and his passes were delivered with pinpoint accuracy the four-time NFL MVP made a career out of with the Packers.

He threw a touchdown pass to Allen Lazard and one to Garrett Wilson. This was the player Jets fans were waiting to see but had his season cut short due to an Achilles injury after four plays in 2023.

“Once 5 (Wilson) and I get on the same page, it’s gonna be special,” Rodgers told Kaylee Hartung.

Rodgers’ last touchdown pass in Green Bay was to Lazard. His first as a Jet at home was to Lazard. He said the two had “a real good rapport.”

The Jets controlled time of possession to the tune of 40:04-19:56. The Jets had 400 yards of total offense compared to New England’s 139. Patriot quarterback Jacoby Brissett and backup Drake Maye were sacked seven times for 59 yards in losses.

The Jets accomplished the romp despite eight penalties for 106 yards. New England was flagged five times for 70 yards.

Brissett was 12-of-18 for 98 yards and never had a chance under pressure from the Jets’ defense.
