Aaron Rodgers credits clip from 2010 for red-hot streak at camp practices

Did Packers QB Aaron Rodgers find a little 2010 magic that he can throw into the 2020 cauldron?

Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t reveal exactly what he found in the old tape, but the Green Bay Packers quarterback is crediting something he saw in himself from 2010 for his red-hot streak at training camp practices the last few days.

Rodgers said he was watching an old cutup during installs when the “Aha!” moment happened.

“It’s interesting, we were watching some old film of some of the cutups. As we do the installs, we’ll put some film alongside it. And I just noticed something from a clip from 2010 actually. It kind of hit me,” Rodgers said Monday. “And I know it was 10 years ago, but the next day I went out to practice and starting working on what I saw on the film, and the last couple of days kind of happened.”

Rodgers has been as sharp as ever the last few days at practice, hitting big play after big play in the passing game, often with deadly accurate throws down the field.

Rodgers said the finding in the old tape “definitely helped” him.

“It’s just a good reminder for all of us that the tape of yourself can often be the most important to watch. Because you can always pick things up. I won’t get into exactly what I saw but it definitely has helped me the last couple days,” Rodgers said.

It will be close to impossible to pinpoint exactly what Rodgers is referring to from 2010 unless he actually reveals the secret. But the Packers did win the Super Bowl that season, in large part due to one of the most impressive postseason stretches by a quarterback in recent NFL history from Rodgers.

Throwing a little 2010 magic into the 2020 cauldron can only be a good thing for the two-time NFL MVP.

Rodgers also credited the offseason brainstorming between himself, coach Matt LaFleur, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and quarterbacks coach Luke Getsy for stimulating the creative juices within the offense.

In fact, Rodgers said LaFleur recently texted him with a few ideas, and the two took the ideas to the practice field and turned them into big plays.

“Matt sent me a text the other night with some ideas, and they were fantastic. We worked a couple of them in practice yesterday and hit them both for big gains,” Rodgers said.
