Aaron Donald cost the Rams 15 yards in the season opener when he was flagged for roughing the passer for a hit on Geno Smith, but he also cost himself a significant chunk of change, too.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the NFL fined Donald $16,391 for his hit on Smith. It’s not the first time Donald has gotten a letter in the mail from the league for something he did on the field, but he still won’t be thrilled about having to pay more than $16,000 for one hit.

In addition to Donald incurring a $16,391 fine, Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf was fined $10,927 twice for his cheap shot on Ahkello Witherspoon and unsportsmanlike conduct on the next play, which drew a flag.
Witherspoon was injured on the play and was limited in practice this week, but he’s still expected to play in this week’s game against the 49ers.
