A top 2026 recruit calls UNC basketball his ‘dream school’

A four-star 2026 basketball recruit has called the North Carolina Tar Heels one of his dream schools growing up.

Even with the 2023-24 college basketball season set to begin next week, recruiting is still very important for programs as they look to build the future of their team.

For the North Carolina Tar Heels, they are hoping that a big class in 2024 can help with the talent they could lose after this season. They are also focused on future classes including 2025.

But at the end of October, a top prospect in the 2026 class revealed who his dream schools were growing up. And a pair of Blue Bloods were named.

Here is what four-star shooting guard JJ Andrews told Rivals’ Rob Cassidy about his dream schools

“My dream schools used to be North Carolina and Kentucky. Those are the ones I liked as a kid, so I guess those two offers would be big. I was born in North Carolina originally but moved when I was about three years old. I grew up a North Carolina fan, but I’ve become a little more of an Arkansas fan the longer I’ve lived down there.”

Andrews was born in North Carolina but is now living in Arkansas where he plays at Little Rock Christian Academy as a sophomore.

He has just five offers so far in his recruitment but is gaining a lot of interest from other programs as we move forward. Andrews is ranked No. 24 nationally, the No. 8 shooting guard, and No. 1 player in the state of Arkansas per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
