A rare Patrick Mahomes mistake cost the Chiefs a chance at a comeback versus Bills

Patrick Mahomes didn’t have the comeback magic against the Bills.

It just wasn’t Patrick Mahomes’ night.

On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs fell 24-20 to the Buffalo Bills in a key AFC matchup between the conference’s two titans. The highly anticipated matchup didn’t have the offensive sparks everyone was hoping for, as Mahomes and Josh Allen were mostly held in check until late in the first half.

Things were tight all game, with the Bills taking a late fourth quarter lead off a long drive that ended with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Allen. That left the Chiefs a minute and change to play with for a comeback, a role that Mahomes is only too familiar with in his career. Unfortunately for Mahomes and the Chiefs, the quarterback made a rare blunder on this ill-advised pass — thanks to Von Miller’s impeccable pressure — that ended up in the hands of Taron Johnson to stall the comeback bid.

Definitely not Mahomes’ finest moment, that’s for sure. Credit to the Bills’ defense for stepping up big time to pressure the quarterback like that. It’s not often a defense gets the better of Mahomes at the end of the day!
