A PGA Tour first: There are robot mowers at Black Desert Championship

The mowers are programmed to cut grass from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.

The inaugural Black Desert Championship is leaning on technology to keep the brand new Black Desert Resort golf course looking tip-top.

There are four self-driven mowers in all and they’re cutting grass in the dark of night, from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. every day to tend to the 51 acres of land.

The mowers are made by Firefly Automatix and they are all electric, which means they’re emissions-free but also quiet.

The PGA Tour reports that this is the first course on the circuit to use robotic fairway mowers.

Castle Pines Golf Club, which hosted the BMW Championship in August, had a couple of automated ball pickers cruising up and down the driving range but Black Desert is taking robots to the next level.
