A new Waze feature will let a soccer announcer tell you how horrible traffic is

Nothing is more thrilling than a soccer announcer telling you to turn left at the gas station

For the next few weeks, Waze users will experience the thrill of a soccer announcer telling them they’ll be late for their meeting because there’s an accident up ahead.

The hugely popular navigation app has rolled out “Drive with a Soccer Commentator,” a new mode that features an announcer excitedly telling you to turn left or right. From the company’s release:

With voice navigation inspired by soccer commentating styles around the world, each turn, hazard and exit will feel like high-stakes action on the pitch. You’ll hear things like “Take the first exit. Then it’s onward to glory!” and “Hazard reported ahead. Getting through that defense could prove tricky.” In Brazil, we even voiced the experience by Luva de Pedreiro, a fan favorite and the most-followed soccer commentator on social media in the country.

The commentator option will be available in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

In addition, users can also change their car icon to an “Automoball,” a car shaped like a soccer ball. There will also be moods available for all 32 teams at the World Cup.

Sadly, the feature is only set to run through November 29, after which users of the app will have to go back to having their navigation read by the Terminator, Boy George or a cat, among other options.
