Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was mic’d up on Monday as his team lost its first game of the season to the Washington Football Team.
Thanks to Inside the NFL, we got to see the moment in which he bestowed quite a compliment on Chase Young, WFT’s second overall pick in the 2020 draft who already looks like a future star (he has 4.5 sacks so far).
But it wasn’t, “You’re awesome, keep it up” or anything like that. What Tomlin said was a more complex, funny way of telling Young he was good.
“I don’t ever want to lose enough games to get a guy like you,” he told Young. “You know what I mean? And I play against you all the time. ‘Cause you gotta lose 14, 15 games to get a guy that look like you.”
