It may not be the best rivalry in sports, but Oklahoma vs. Iowa State is a matchup that dates back to the 1920s. The Sooners have dominated the all-time series, but two of the Cyclones’ seven wins have come since 2017.
The only other time they’ve won two in a similar time span was in 1960 and 1961 when they won back-to-back games in the last few years of the Bud Wilkinson era.
Last year’s 14-point win was the largest margin of victory for the Oklahoma Sooners since Matt Campbell became the head coach at Iowa State in 2016. And this Oklahoma Sooners team is better on the defensive side of the ball than it was a year ago.
If Oklahoma can find a bit of a running game against the Cyclones defense, then they’ll have a shot to put up big numbers. It’s going to be a fantastic atmosphere inside Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
