A Kentucky recruit says he’s still committed to Kentucky after Alabama offer

Defensive line recruit Nicholas Smith re-affirms his commitment to Kentucky football after an offer from Alabama.

Kentucky football originally gained a commitment from defensive lineman Nicholas Smith back in June. Since then, he has attracted attention from other schools, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, who offered him recently.

On Wednesday, Smith told Kentucky Sports Radio (subscription required) that he remains committed to the Wildcats, saying:

No. I will not be going to Alabama. I will not be decommitting. I’ll be at Kentucky.”

Smith is a 6’5″, 275 defensive lineman out of Georgia. He is rated three stars by 247sports, and ranks number 1,185 overall in the class in their composite rankings. He’s their 111th ranked defensive lineman in the 2025 class.

Kentucky’s 2025 class currently ranks 23 overall, and includes multiple defensive linemen. The strength of this year’s team is its defense, and coach Mark Stoops and his staff are looking to continue that trend. They want Smith to be a part of that, and his statement tells Big Blue Nation that he wants to be a part of it too.
