The Kansas Jayhawks beat Texas. In football. Again.
In the final matchup between the two programs as conference rivals, head coach Lance Leipold led KU to its first-ever victory in Austin, set a school record for points scored against the Longhorns and nearly dropped 60 on one of college football’s flagship programs.
Kansas beat Texas, 57-56 in overtime, scoring as many points in one game as it had in its last five combined. If that seems unimaginable for Texas fans, try to picture what it must have been like for KU fans at Darrel K Royal Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
Better yet, take a look for yourself.
A series of photos from Austin radio host Jason Dick perfectly captured the experience of a KU fan during the upset — which is truly emblematic of how all Kansas fans (myself included) felt throughout the win.

This next series may be the most relatable moments among KU fans. It’s not just the near-perfect surrender cobra, it’s the mix of anger in his eyes and confusion everywhere else on his face.
Kansas finding a way to lose this game is hardly as gut-wrenching as Kansas fans mistakenly allowing themselves to believe a victory is within reach. Here we see what it looks like when belief becomes embarrassment:

Thanks to quarterback Jalon Daniels and walk-on freshman fullback Jared Casey, that feeling of embarrassment quickly turned to exhilaration. And while it may only be a fleeting moment among many for KU faithful, they’ll always have this perfect thread to remind us that the Jayhawks beat Texas in football. In Austin.
Again.
