The Jets signed T.J. Barnes to the team’s practice squad in 2013. He was waived by the team in November 2015 but re-signed with the practice squad shortly after.

From there, Barnes rejoined Rex Ryan in Buffalo, pressed his luck at a second-stint in Jacksonville, had a cup of coffee with the Chiefs, signed with the Atlanta Legends of the now-defunct Alliance of American Football and spent two months with the Panthers after the AAF suspended operations.

Barnes was drafted in the fourth round during phase three of the XFL draft by the New York Guardians.
