A four-star Fourth of July for LSU football as Zion Williams commits

LSU lands a four-star defensive lineman in Zion Williams.

It was an Independence Day commitment for Zion Williams, the four-star defensive lineman from Texas giving his verbal to LSU on the Fourth of July.

Williams is the thirteenth commitment for LSU in a class that is now No. 9 in the nation according to 247Sports.

A 6-foot-5, 330-pound defensive lineman from Lufkin (Lufkin, Texas), Williams is the No. 174 prospect in the ESPN 300. He is ranked a four-star recruit by both ESPN and Rivals.

He was a dominant player for a Lufkin team that went 5-6 last season. Williams has tremendous size that blends well with his agility and quickness to make him quite the imposing interior defensive lineman.

Williams picked LSU from an offer list that also included Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Florida and TCU among others.

He committed on Thursday with a social media post:

Williams took his official visit to LSU in late May. He also had official visits to Arkansas, Texas A&M and TCU.
