Victor Wembanyama has been viewed as the next big thing in the NBA for a little while now. But before he started stuffing the stat sheet for the San Antonio Spurs, there was plenty of healthy skepticism about whether the impeccably gifted big man’s game could actually translate to the best men’s basketball league in the world.
And, apparently, he kept receipts of anyone doubting him even then.
A nearly 3.5-year-old social media post highlights a then-16-year-old Wembanyama dominating adults in France. One random comment expressed doubt that this sort of play would translate across the pond. After a Rookie of the Year campaign this year, Wembanyama finally revisited the specific comment, simply asking, “Why not?”
We should all aspire to this level of petty.
Wemby really replied to this comment 3.5 years later 👀🤣

Need I remind everyone that this was just rookie year Wembanyama. Chances are, he’s only going to get demonstrably better moving forward. And if he wants to, he probably has many more doubtful comments to soon revisit that he’s also hilariously archived.
